Sandakphu, the highest point of West Bengal at a height of 11930 ft. is towards North West of Darjeeling, the beautiful hill town on the lap of the Himalayas. Trek to Sandakphu is called the Trekkers paradise.
The journey to Sandakphu, the trekker has to cross the Singalila National Park home of the Red Pandas and Pangolins. The forest is covered with many flora and fauna. During March-April one can see various types of Rhododendrons mainly the Red ones and Oak forest. Once it’s full bloom its look like the Hill has caught fire. While trekking to Sandakphu, you will be passing through the International Border with Nepal.
The magnificent view of Kanchenjunga and the Himalayas stays along with the most part of the trek to Sandakphu. Once you Summit to Sandakphu, you will have able to see the four world’s highest peaks namely Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu provided you have clear sky. You can also see some snow capped other peaks of the Himalayas and that of Sikkim. The entire range of Kanchanjunga appears like sleeping Buddha. The skyline of the region is dominated by the high rising peaks.

The Starting point of the trek is Dhotrey which is 3 ½ hour’s drive from Darjeeling. There are pucca wooden Huts in the entire trail. Therefore you have to carry only your belonging not other trekking gears like sleeping bags and tents.
